Phantom on the Horizon

SO...after all of these years of waiting, I have finally gotten my hands the re-mastered version of the Fall of Troy's legendary tracks, the Ghostship demos. Phantoms on the Horizon had a lot to live up to because the original demos were just a few songs that the band really let loose on, and showed their true artistic ability. The concept of these songs is a story of a ghost ship that gets attacked by dark monsters and all the chaos that takes place.

After finally hearing it, I fell in love all over again. it's a little different and not quite as dark and abstract as the original but nevertheless great. The band took a much more mature approach to the album and i think the results speak for themselves. Their talent is really undeniable and i think its especially impressive since they are a 3-piece. The guitar work is top notch and their versatility really opens your mind. basically i love it.

if i had to critique anything, i would have liked the album to retain some of the darkness from the originals, and the art of it. But they added a little more soul to the album which i thought gave another aspect to an already experimental album. go check them out if you can handle it!
